As the title asks, I was to know how green are you. for instant, I walk and take the bus, use compact florescent lights, have power strips (that I actually turn off when i am done with) and I have energy star complaint appliances and components where I can.
I used to be on a power binge, and wasted it like crazy. What got me to change was not the Al Gore movie but the cost savings on the electricity. I want to be greener, well maybe not greener but off the grid I guess they call it. Is that possible in an apartment?
There are other things I can do, sure like get a low flow shower head for the bathroom and I have just today at Wal-mart saw screw in L.E.D. lights that claim to save 90% as apposed to the 75% of the CFL over a regular incandescent light bulb.
One thing I am really interested in is solar energy, I have scratched the surface in research, most of which revolves around panels but there are a few battery chargers for mobile phones and ipods. I would like to see a solar solution for apartment dwellers. maybe solar blinds that, when in use collect power and store it to feed it into your internal power lines. When the blinds are down during the day, when most people are at work they blinds would charge the system and when you need power it would be there, that would lower the impact on grid power.
